That being said, Plainly Legal™ will give users what they need to deal with the vast majority of the legal issues they’ll face themselves.
Plainly Legal™ is built for businesses operating within the United States. All of our features are built from the perspective of United States business laws, and they are built for businesses that are based in the United States (even those that serve audiences worldwide).
While many international users have reported successfully using our founder’s contract language for their own businesses, we cannot guarantee that our features and the information provided within Plainly Legal™ would apply to businesses outside of the US.
No, you will not get direct access to a lawyer as a Plainly Legal™ subscriber. It is considered to be the unauthorized practice of law for lawyers to provide legal advice to non-clients and those who reside in a state in which the lawyer is not licensed.
Plainly Legal™ is a SaaS (software as a service) for certain types of online businesses. Designed by Bobby Klinck, Harvard-trained lawyer with over 20 years of experience, it is a solution that allows small businesses access to quality legal guidance and tools in a user-friendly and affordable way.
Users can log into their account to generate legal documents (contracts, terms & conditions, policies, etc.) for their online business. Soon, users will also be able to get guidance on what legal issues apply to their businesses and get instant answers to their legal questions.
We take data privacy and protection very seriously. We tightly control who has access to the backend databases to only a few trusted Plainly Legal™ team members and developers, all of whom have signed confidentiality agreements and are bound by law to protect private information.
We’ve set up our system to encrypt data both while it’s in transit and while it’s stored. To explain the technical nature of our data security features, here’s a note from our developers:
Plainly Legal™ keeps consumer data safe by encrypting all transmitted website data using a modern, industry standard protocol called TLS (Transport Layer Security), a step above the previously common SSL protocol. This means that regardless of what type of connection is used to access the Plainly Legal™ app, the data shared with the app is still encrypted for optimal security.
Plainly Legal™’s modern tech stack, using NextJS, TypeScript, and serverless hosting, means that it is far more up-to-date than applications written in older languages, resulting in better security against hackers.
Plainly Legal™ also uses Clerk for user authentication, meaning all account logins are protected by a dedicated team of cybersecurity specialists whose top priority is security. Clerk uses HttpOnly header flags to protect against XSS attacks, as well as SameSite header flags to help prevent CSRF attacks. Clerk also requires strict password requirements, following the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) security guidelines.
Databases and their client communications are AES encrypted throughout the data server platform both in transit and at rest, meaning that your data is useless and scrambled to anyone who accesses it in an attack against our hosting servers.
As an added layer of security, we split your data and store it in different databases and locations. In the unlikely event that someone were to gain unauthorized access, they would need to hack multiple encrypted data storage systems to associate the different sets of data.
